Rebirth

01 Overview
Rebirth is a product created for an imagined future. In a world that is constantly surrounded by technology, Rebirth provides an escape. It is essentially a “bubble” that contains a seed and genetic modification substance which allows for the plant to change color. The product we made is a self-growing small environment of a clear bubble that contains plants to grow inside.
The bubble has minimal packaging with only a manual wrapping that informs the customer how to use this product and grow their own nature environment. We also built a marketing website that has the information about the self-growing environment and how to buy the product.
02 Future Wheel
We began this project by creating a future wheel with the intent on focusing on Virtual & Augmented Reality.
Some key ideas/words that stuck out to us included:

We then created some sketches that helped us to further brainstorm what product we wanted to make to solve this potential problem in our future world.
03 The Next Steps (Prototype)
After decided on a future world, we started to work on the final product. Yujing worked on creating the manual and the product itself while I worked on designing the website.

05 Reflection
We enjoyed the process of imagining a future world and coming up with a solution to a specified problem. Although the product we created was very hypothetical, it was interesting to see how far we could push it. It was an engaging process to imagine the different aspects of our future world like different demographics, people’s past times, as well as what animals were part of the population.
For future iterations, we would like to create some more interactive materials that users could engage with.
